OFFICIAL 5g Opinion Thread

Post by Miamiluder on Thu 03 Feb 2011, 1:19 pm

umm lets try to keep this to pictures only but...

foglights: im not sure i think jdm replicas are just fine

headlights: everyone screams retrofits but i think black housing with hid's is just fine

body kit: hell no imo lol but WWRS lip kit <3

suspension: coilovers, but not sure which brand

tint: i have no clue in miami cops dont care so you can tint as dark as you like

I agree with miami luder.

I had the v2 replicas, I got the real deal now, and other than the shitty harness they provide, you can't even tell they're replicas.

I'm with the crowd that screams retrofits. Haha Not only do they totally set off the look of the lude, but they also have that cut off line which is pretty important. I'm not blinding people everywhere I drive now. I used to get a lot of tickets for my Hids but ever since I retro'd them, I haven't been bothered once for em. Cops in my area don't really care, as long as you don't blind people with em.

But then again sometimes we just don't have the money, and the black depo housing will be good enough till you can retro them.

x2 on the wwrs kit.

I've had tein coilovers and now I'm on ksport. Honestly IMO, it's pretty much the same ride, just a cheaper.

I keep my tint %100 legal. Idk what it's like in the states, but in hawaii, it's like $200 something per window. I ain't getting a ~$1000 because of tint haha.

Re: OFFICIAL 5g Opinion Thread

Post by aznjap808 on Sun 06 Feb 2011, 6:42 pm

I need an opinion.

So I have a persistant oil leak from my oil filter. In the past month, I've had to take off the sc 4 times to try and fix it. It's still leaking, so I'm going to have to take it off again eventually to attempt to fix it again. It's not an easy task to remove the sc, and I'm pretty fed up with it.

So I've been thinking, and for around the same amount I can sell the sc for, I can just go turbo.

What do you guys think? Sell the sc and go turbo? Or just keep the sc because it's so unique?

And no, I'm not going to be building the block so it's going to be a very small turbo.

The oil filter is leaking. And no, it's not the oil cooler o-ring, I already changed that. It's been giving me a huge headache. You can take a look into my build thread on pp for more info on the leak.

The thing is that I could try that, but in order to test it, I have to assemble the entire sc again to run the car. I really don't want to try something and hope it works. I want to try something and be almost positive it'll work. So I don't have to take it all off again.

No I meant maybe you have two gaskets on the oil filter accidentally. That'll cause a leak at the filter. Though I'm assuming now that you've mentioned a SC that you've maybe got a filter relocation kit?

Ooh. No, no ways we could make a mistake like that haha. We checked everything over and over. For some reason it just leaks real bad.

kinda thinking the brackets is a bit too much to have blue, what do you guys think? my battery tie down (not in that pic) would also be the same blue. think i should keep the rad brackets blue? or go a silver or black with them? and should i do the battery tie down the blue as well?

i will have bigger and better pictures tonight

You can go a few different ways with this, either way - remove the center bracket. It's really not needed and looks cleaner without.

I think the tie-down would look tits blue.

Paint the radiator brackets a nice black, silver, or match white with your car. The blue on them kinda draws away from the vc and intake and kinda look out of place.

yeah the paint under the brackets is all sorts of messed up so im attempting to use these and cover it up for now.

yeah now i just gotta strip that shiz before saturday stupid honda rubber >.<

already attempted white and when i thought i found the one, did it on the strut bar... nope still too white, needs a bit more yellow in it lol powdercoat is hard to match with. Im still unsure about the brackets though, i am thinking that once the tie down is blue it will all come together and look better than the massive distraction it is now and be an eye leader and people will follow the blue... now all a need is a new header to be the finale lol

P10 you've done your gauge cluster rings right?

I'm contemplating doing mine white... but am undecided. Chrome vs. white... I just think the white would be too much of a clash with all of the black housing.

i have not, i have different gauge faces though, came on the car. those are silverish white. havent touched the rings yet i would probably do them a chrome or silver though, but i could do them white since pretty much all my interior accents are white and it would match but i think it would be a bit of overkill

Yea I saw the bezel around your radio. I don't even know if I could do that lol, I like subtle accents.

Luckily I have a spare gauge bezel I can test on. TY junkyard Smile

Yea that was me, though I don't know haha. I'm going through so many ideas.

5th gens don't appear in junkyards here, and when they do they are STRIPPED almost immediately. A preluder local to me posted pics of a black 5th gen SH in a junkyard about 40 mins away. Two weeks later Darthanis and I go take a look at it, there was nothing left worthwhile. Shame too, because it had Depo lights on it, but someone broke the rear of the casings. I did end up with a H22 VC and the gauge bezel and plastic cover for $15 though.

lol I know of someone local who does powder coating, though I haven't had anything to powdercoat to see his work. Maybe though, because I'm positive unknown would have many more colors to choose from.

just do a small bracket, cheap and you will be able to gauge his work ive learned a bit about it just talking with him and seeing the other local powdercoaters work he has to fix. it was funny one time when i was out bsing with him and dropping off some stuff a dude rolled up in his subaru and said " i just got these done from lance, it looks shitty and he wont redo them. how much do you charge for it?" the powder stood on end and felt like freaking sandpaper and it was even crazier to look at lol.

dude you should do a flat candy color. saw them the other day and they are pretty freaking awesome! if all my shit wasnt done in lollipop blue over class A silver (dead on match to F-zero blue) i would have my stuff done in the flat blue he has. it looks amazing on black cars. he had a set of rims done in it on a black audi when i dropped my stuff off

I'd like to keep the VC on my car black, glossy, and semi-metallic would be nice I think.

you could always go with smoke chrome.

the price tag on the colored chromes is a bit higher though lol i think 100 for a vc done in it.

or there is jet black 75% gloss
