The "50 dollar paint job" Empty The "50 dollar paint job"

Post by BB2Keith Thu 03 Mar 2011, 5:48 pm

Well, I was looking online for cheap ways to get my car painted, and then, I saw a link called ,"The 50 dollar paint job," so I clicked it for some laughs, and, I did the opposite. I don't know if any of you all have heard of it, but, it's ingenious. You take a can of Rustoleum Gloss enamel, and mix it 50/50 with mineral spirits, and layer it on your car lightly with a 4'' roller. Sounds crazy, and sounds like it doesn't work, is what I was thinking, so, I looked up some more on it. I found these sites:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Paint-Your-Car-With-Rustoleum/
http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1

This is the original post I found:

So, I'll give it a shot. I took my factory spoiler off, because I didn't like it to begin with, and I've sanded it down, and I'll test the waters. If it works, I'll do the car. I'll keep you guys posted. I'll have pics of the spoiler up soon.

Yea, I paint a car in an afternoon, and that's it. We don't have rustoleum over here but we have other paints.

What my mates n I usually use however is military paint in a 2L tub, and mix that down with the thinners and roll it on Smile

Well, like I said, I'm gonna try it out on the Lude and see how it goes. I'd like to have a clean Lude before Import Alliance this summer.
